MOROCCO

MOROCCO

Arab and Berber culture collide to create

one of Africa's most memorable countrieS.

"These are very bad boys. Very bad." The snake charmer plays a game of chicken with a King Cobra snake, his hand away just as the vicious reptile snaps. For $10, I can film the encounter. Overpriced but unmatched in the wow factor. I hand over the bill and watched the spectacle again. Even somewhat confined they're scary as hell. I quickly move on and disappear into the aisles of another souk."

CITIES VISITED:

MUST DO:

FAVORITE MEMORY:

Casablanca
Marrakesh
Fes
Moulay Idriss
Stay in an authentic Riad.
Photo in lobby of La Mamounia in Marrakech.
Visit the tannery in Fes.
Get lost in the narrow streets of Moulay Idriss.
Being called "Ali Baba" by local Moroccan men. A playful term used to describe white guys with beards.

DIFFICULTY TO VISIT RATING:

2/5  MODERATE

The main cities are quite walkable, just don't get lost in the labyrinth of often unmarked streets. Proximity to Europe and many direct flights from east coast of USA make it easy to get to.

It's not hard to find a perfect night in Morocco. Picture yourself amongst the colorful patterns of tile in a riad, the calming sound of a small fountain acts as background noise, a glass of the local wine and big bowl of couscous as the bright star filled sky overhead looks down. You understand why it has enchanted so many.
