BRAZIL

A mammoth of a place. Large, untamed and raucous.

"The gem of the place was the Teatro Amazonas. Built by the rubber barons and debuting in 1897, the neoclassical pink building stood tall and proud amongst the decay. Its center compromised of a mosaic tiled dome, the colors depicted the Brazilian flag. Inside the ceiling was painted in a Renaissance manner. Large tapestries served as the theater curtain. Regal suites that once held the major players of Manaus high society still exuded sophisticated charm. I found it the grandest theater I’ve ever sat foot in, and that included Austria and England."

CITIES VISITED:

MUST DO:

FAVORITE MEMORY:

Manaus
Rio De Janeiro
Sao Paolo
Experience Manaus the Amazon River.
Hit the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
Have some Italian food in Sao Paulo.
Seeing "the meeting of the waters" where the dark Rio Negro mixes with the light Amazon river.

DIFFICULTY TO VISIT RATING:

3/5  HARD

Obtaining a visa can be a convoluted process. Ample flights. Cities are traffic-choked and can be overwhelming.

Brazil occupies such a stature in the Americas it should be experienced at least once in life. Similar to the U.S., a big brash bravado exists in its air and floats amongst its pulsating cities and beautiful landscapes. Brazil could be unstoppable, if it could stop itself from its worst impulses.
