AUSTRIA

Vienna waits for you, as do the Alps, Mozart anD wiener schnitzel!

"The world's most livable city!" That's what they call Vienna. I set out to test the theory. Immediately I'm enamored with the easiest and most efficient public transportation system I've encountered on my travels. It feels like every inch of the city is accessible by some sort of rail, an on time bus or by foot. There's a sophistication to the place too, that fine line of just working enough but putting true value into the arts and maintaining local culture. That's what it is--balance. This place has it all--the arts, architecture and ample bars and cafes. It's livable and lovable."

In Salzburg: ride the cable car high into the hills and visit the Mozart museum. Enjoy the Grand Palace and the Parc du Cinquantenaire.
Enjoying the walkability of Vienna, in one day I did fifteen miles on foot and it felt like fifteen minutes.

DIFFICULTY TO VISIT RATING:

Super easy in every facet of travel.

Worth spending a weekend in Vienna and taking a day trip or overnight by train to Salzburg. Few countries present such a sense of honest beauty and unpretentious sophistication. It's infectious.
