ICELAND

ICELAND

The country you've seen all over social media for the last ten years

lives up to the hype.

"Iceland’s south coast was unblemished and untarnished. It may as well have been sinless. A proper comparison is the best of New Zealand and Patagonia with the rolling green hills of Ireland in early summer mixed in on top. Much of the tour was simply the drive itself. Seasons passed on that ride. There was rain, snow, spring breezes and summer sun rays. Once I stepped out in a raincoat, knit hat, scarf and gloves. Another, just a t-shirt and sunglasses. There were well known stops along the way to the Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon. Waterfalls and mountain range vistas. I was willfully ignorant, all I knew about the day is that we’d see glaciers—Mother Nature’s form of gasconade."

CITIES VISITED:

MUST DO:

FAVORITE MEMORY:

Reykjavik to Vik and everything in-between
See Skógafoss Falls.
Visit the Glacier Lagoon.
Enjoy the rolling green hills of Kálfafell.
The chance to feel four seasons in a day's drive.

DIFFICULTY TO VISIT RATING:

1/5  EASY

Very tourist centric country with a strong national airline. Also constant daylight in the summer is a plus. All kinds of tours for all kinds of travelers.

It's a rapid fire succession of beauty in Iceland. Sometimes there's so much so quickly it doesn't resonate. Remember to breath and take a mental picture to accompany the painting you just snapped on your iPhone.
