AUSTRALIA

AUSTRALIA

America's fun-loving, more chill cousin

"I never quite got over feeling as if I had been in the country my entire life. The prevalence of SUVs, wide highways, average architecture, country music, rich immigrant culture, cable news, angry politics, binge drinking, diehard sports fanaticism, cul-de-sac sprawl, tacky beach boardwalks, accented English and the commonality of being Britain’s offspring with an adherence to a frontier and pioneering spirit, made the “land down under” feel like “the land of the free and home of the brave.”

DIFFICULTY TO VISIT RATING:

1/5  EASY

Australians let the good times roll. They're inclusive by nature. The country feels a lot like the United States.

Big hearted and adventurous, you'd be hard pressed not to enjoy yourself in Australia. Driving from Sydney to Melbourne along the coast was a treat. While some find Brisbane boring, it's quite a lovely well kept enjoyable city. Need to visit the west coast and far north on my next visit. Do get out of Sydney!
